I mentioned how when I ordered a portion of chunky chips, the member of staff gave me five initially. I had to pass the box back and ask for more. Five chips for 50p.

Right well today when I went downstairs, I was standing there wondering what to buy and I noticed the same guy servinf up a portion of chunky chips to a lady. Maybe it’s a coincidence this lady was the same colour as him, and neither are the same colour as me. However, I couldn’t help but notice them both smiling and giggling as he piled up a mini-mountain of chunky chips into her takeaway container. I mean, there was triple what I ended up with yesterday.

Is not the first time I’ve noticed these coincidences happening in that canteen.

Today’s meal was alright, except my mouth is burning and my nose is running and i’ve ran out of napkins. I got jerk chicken, and I never learn that the sauce is far too hot.

Gone Off Food

I’m probably going to start posting on here a bit more now that I can access tumblr on my work computer. I mean home. I’m at home. Not at work. And if I was, I’d be on my lunch break, anyway.

I just had a burger from the canteen downstairs. And chunky chips. The canteen has annoyed me before with things in the past, like varying portion sizes and stupid ideas they come up with. I send them a complaint which took up five of their comment cards last time because I was told I probably received a smaller portion than my colleague because I’m female and the women in our building tend to eat less(??!!).

Anyway, the burgers are usually pretty nice, I think they’re hand-made from mince in the kitchen. Today, first the guy skimped me on the portion of chunky chips, thinking 5 was adequate… that’s 10p per chip. Um, no give me some more. Then when I got up to my desk I kept getting crunchy chunks in my mouth, I just thought it was from the relish until I looked at the burger, and they’ve started putting bloody onions in with the mince!! Argh!! Thing is they don’t cook the burgers properly, the middle is pinkish but not raw. So the onions don’t cook either, and so you’re just eating massive chunks of raw onion in with the meat. To someone who doesn’t like onions, that’s fookin’ nasty. I still have the nasty taste in my mouth.

I think the canteen should have put up a sign to say the recipe had changed. But then it seems to be run by thick people so I’m not surprised.

The guy did give me extra cheese though. Which I guess was nice.

Anyway, I seem to have gone off food in general at the moment, except for sweet things. I just want chocolate puddings, but only a little bit.

Yesterday I felt incredibly stuffed after eating a few cocktail sausages and about 5 olives. And a big bottle of chocolate milk. I think it was the chocolate milk that did it. I just felt so bloated I had to lie down and nap. Thing is, that was ALL I ate yesterday so I don’t get it. I bought food for dinner but just can’t seem to face eating it.

This is weirrd for me. If I don’t have food, then I don’t have any other vices. maybe I should take up speed.

Batsman Trial and Error will be launching at the London...

Batsman Trial and Error will be launching at the London Underground Comics festival, ‘Low Energy Day’ at Camden Market on Saturday 30th August 2008.

Long story short, an artist, called Katazyna Zalecka (www.Kasia88.deviantart.com) was drawing a picture of something of my choice. I asked her to draw her version of a character of mine, that I had designed a few years ago, Hyron. He’s a half-demony pirate (there’s a massive back-story but I can’t be bothered to go into it).

Anyway, this is her drawing, and is very good. She’s wayyy better than me on photoshop. You should check out her stuff.

Her stuffs pretty cool, weird dragon people; nice. I liked psychotic hamster.

Have you done that comic yet?

Your one? Not yet, but I have started getting my arse into gear comic-wise. At the mo I’m working on a bunch of short ones (6-8 pages) to hand out and/or sell at Hayley’s launch night this Thurs. I need to pad out my website, too. I haven’t forgotten about your one. I want to do it stylised, so it doesn’t really look like my other stuff.

Long story short, an artist, called Katazyna Zalecka...

Long story short, an artist, called Katazyna Zalecka (www.Kasia88.deviantart.com) was drawing a picture of something of my choice.
I have decided to start catalogueing my luck. Or, rather, lack of it.

I’m not saying good things don’t happen to me, I guess they do in small doses, but they sure do not appear half as much as the bad luck.

Yeah, so I’m not a starving child with AIDS in Africa. And I haven’t been kept in a cellar for 24 years either. But for a person growing up in London, in my circumstances, I would say I have shit luck.

I’m going to start with today, and as and when I will update with new stories of bad luck happening to me. To make it not look like I’m whinging I’ll mention when good things happen, too.

So… today. I had to leave work early for a doctor’s appointment. Let’s backtrack a bit first… I wrote a post up on this here site when I couldn’t sleep just over a week ago. I had something wrong with my ears. Well, the ear problem has continued to exist, sporadically and at different degrees of pain/annoyance. However, I thought it best I go get it checked out at the doctor’s. That was last friday (a week ago today).

The doctor was a woman I hadn’t met before. She kind of made me feel bad about coming to her with my complaints and then ridiculed me when she took a look inside my ears because there’s wax in them. Well excuse me!! She said I should make an appointment with the nurse for a week’s time to get my ears syringed, and in the mean time put olive oil drops in to soften the wax. Tasty.

After the appointment I went straight to the receptionist and asked for an appointment with the nurse in a week’s time to have my ears syringed. She said the only time they had was 3:50pm. I said that’s great, thanks and I was on my way.

I haven’t bothered changing my surgery yet to a local one, because there was a couple of ongoing things I needed to sort out at this one first. So this doctor’s surgery is all the way in Mitcham. It takes me 30 minutes at most to get home in Surbiton from work. To get to the doctors from work, it takes about 45 minutes… maybe 50 minutes.

Sooo I left work early today to get to my appointment. I managed to catch the weather just after it had stopped raining (which was good, because I didn’t have my waterproofs with me). I rode through the traffic in Putney, I rode all the way through Wimbledon during tennis season (agh!), stopped for petrol just in case, and squeezed through more traffic to get to my doctor’s surgery. I parked up my bike, put the disc lock on the front wheel, put the chain on my back wheel that I specifically had brought with me for this visit.

I went inside the surgery and the lady I booked the appointment with was there along with this rude receptionist that I have never liked much. On account that she is often rude.

I said I had an appointment with a nurse at 3:50. After some typing on the computer and looking confused she told me that there isnt an appointment for me. I said I booked it a week ago with ‘this lady’ (who promptly decided not to get involved and help me out - yeah thanks lady). The rude one said that she wouldn’t know it why would have been booked for today because the nurse doesn’t work on fridays. So I asked when the appointment was booked for then. She looked it up and told me it was the Monday just gone.

I was confused and asked why it was booked for the monday when I had asked for it to be for a week’s time. She shrugged and was clearly under the impression that I had gotten my dates mixed up and it was somehow my fault. All the while, the other lady didn’t say a bloody thing. I didn’t get an apology for the mix up, either.

So I had to book another appointment for this monday instead. And she wrote it on a card for me to remember - hinting I had forgotten the last appointment because it wasn’t written down.

Pleh.

I had to give a letter to her too to pass on to one of the doctors. The last time I handed the receptionist something to pass on to the doctor (test results), when I had my appointment with him a few days later to discuss the results, they still hadn’t given it to him. It was still down on the reception desk. He had to phone them from his office and tell them off. So God knows when the doctor is going to get this letter.

Anyway, there’s my typical Sod’s Law bad luck for today.

Next week I am going to apply for a loan from my bank, after waiting two months for my credit report to update and show I had no debt.

I’m not holdng my breath that it’ll go the way I want.

Is my new guitar.

On the rare occasion that I make a noise, I always wake myself up with the first snore. I think it comes from when I was a child. My neighbours were loud, pretty much 24 hours a day. When one neighbour was quiet and decidede to turn their music off, anotherwould start until 4am. It was hell. So I used to struggle to sleep every single night. Also I have that lucid dreaming thing, so that means I don’t get enough of the proper sleep, too.

So I took to wearing ear plugs to bed. I pretty much can’t sleep without them unless it’s well and truly dead quiet. Where I live now, I can hear all the pipes chugging away when the neighbours run their water. And I can hear every single footstep they take in their house (and they have the auducity to bang on the floor to get us to turn out tv down at 10 at night - sometimes when the tv is in fact not making ANY noise. I think their frustration is misdirected at times).

However, I think the years of ear plug use is finally taking it’s toll on my ears. For the last few nights, when I’v woken up for one of my many trips to the loo, I’ve been ‘hearing’ a throbbing in my left ear. It seems to be in time with my pulse. It’s loud and it affects my whole head. After a while it’ll go and I could go back to sleep.

Now tonight I’ve actually been weoken up by a repetitive ringing almost like a bell you get to get a concierge’s attention at a hotel. As well as the throbbing. It wouldn’t go away. AndI simply coudln’t sleep. So I’ve had to get up and stay awake long enough for it to go away. It has just gone now, after being awake for about 30 minutes. However I’m cautious that when I go back to bed, it will start up again… I really hope not. I like my sleep. Not in a lazy kind of way, but because I have crazy interesting dreams. I had some kinf os flying car in the dream I was having before the ringing woke me up.

Shit… the thobbing is back before I even finished writing this. This sucks. I really hope it’s not a permanent problem I’m going to have. While it’s throbbing, for a second I can’t hear anything else. This will be bad if it’s permanent. My dad has tinnitus and it’s not fun. It keeps him awake.

I might go kill some time watching those baby lions.

Live TV feed of some teeny baby lions and their mummy 24 hours a day

Live TV feed of some teeny baby lions and their mummy 24 hours a day: What the title says, really. A hidden camera has been put in the den of a family of lions. Four little babies and their mum. If you catch them at the right time of day, it’s very cute and interesting. Bear in mind, Lions spend most of their time sleeping though. But is seriously worth checking out a few times a day. These babies are so young they’re still in their den and haven’t ventured outside yet.

Soundtrack to my Life

I don’t usually do these kinds of things. There are things I won’t have to go through like spending loads of money on nappies and baby food and annoying things like that. But there’s some fun stuff I’ll miss out on, too.

Today Bill (my workmate) had a call from his wife. She’d taken their 2 1/2 year old son out to buy him some proper trainers. He had Clarks kind of trainers that Bill thought were kind of like shoes disabled kids wear. I don’t know what shoes disabled kids wear. But apparantly it’s not ‘proper’ trainers.

Anyway the choice had come down to a pair of Nike trainers and some LaCoste trainers. It turns out Liam (Bill’s son) wanted the trainers with the crocodiles on. Now any older fashion-conscious kid would have chosen the Nikes, because of what surrounds the brand name. But to a two year old, it comes down to the simple fact that these trainers had crocodiles on them.

I hope he doesn’t grow out of that.

Maybe I won’t miss out on the fun stuff… I’ll be a great aunty. And it means I don’t have to deal with the waking up at odd hours. I’ll just do the fun stuff like taking them to the park or zoo. Awesome.

cultshasha:

Hell, I’d even settle for drawings of Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny in compromising positions!!

You are a bad son, Geoffrey.

Phor Kune Kung Fu

Phor Kune Kung Fu:
This is the Kung Fu group I joined recently. I’m off to a lesson in about an hour, in fact.

It’s a good martial arts to do. The classes are small, so I get a lot of one on one help from the instructors, and you don’t have to be super fit to start, your fitness will build up over the weeks. I had to miss the last two weeks after I cracked my rib. But I’m back today and will be taking it easy.

They do the different animal styles from the beginning, too. Like Tiger and Sake/Viper. Is cool. Also, when you’ve reached a certain level, they di staff, twin sticks and sword fighting. Woo!

On the site, there’s some cool pics of the Grand Master. He’s a badass.

Sunday

I’m not sure how it’s possible to get a sunburn without any sun. I did the Walk for Life today. A 10km trek through London. The weather was ok but not exactly hot. And I got sunburnt. How?!

Anyway, I did it and my legs ache and I’m tired. Now I just need to collect the money from my sponsors.

I’ve also come up with an idea for a script or story. It still needs some padding out and changes and developing, but the bare bones are there. However I’m not sure if it’ll be any good because it involves a coma. And That’s annoying. However, Kill Bill and Life on Mars involve comas and they’re good.

I’ve been watching too much Life on Mars, incidentally. Today I’m going through the second series. I never watched it, but I should have because it’s good.

Camden

Today I went to Camden. I don’t go very often. I like it there but there is an air of pretentiousness about it. You see people walking around with this ‘Oh my God, I’m shoping in Camden, I’m so out there and cool’ expression on there faces and incorporated into their body language. I want to slap them and send them back to shopping in H & M on Oxford Street. I don’t even know if there is a H & M on Oxford Street, but my the point has been made, I think.

I also don’t really like it when you stop to look at something and the market seller jumps on you trying to force a sale. They do that, then I’m walking off. Except today, when I was looking at a cool Marvel character-themed bag, which I did actually want to buy, and the woman haggled with herself and sold it to me for cheaper (though possible £6 more than it is worth).

There was an underground comic festival going on, put on by London Underground Comics. Usually there’s a stall in Camden every weekend, but they put on something bigger and more fancy this weekend. Was quite cool. I know the guy who runs it, and one of the guys who sells his comics there each week. So I bought a couple of thingies. There was an overbearing guy there, who possibly scared a number of people away. Including me.

Then we got some Chinese food and I had a Nutella and banana crepe. It was tasty…. mmm… yeah it was. We did some pubbing and went to Covent Garden. Did more pubbing. Went to Wimbledon. More pubbing and I went home. Kate has just knocked on my window to go for more pubbing… I’m off!

TRS2: Mincey Scattercushion by Emily Webber

TRS2: Mincey Scattercushion by Emily Webber:
My first ever comic review - for a comic that doesn’t exist yet! Woo!

The guy is basically reviewing a preview handout thing for my comic Mincey Scattercushion, to generate some interest for when the comic comes out. So people will see the comic on sale in the future and think ‘that looks familiar’ and buy it.

I’m certainly more enthused about finishing off the first issue now. Woo!

June 2008 - Pirate’s Booty - Los Angeles Magazine

June 2008 - Pirate’s Booty - Los Angeles Magazine: Saw this on the main Tumblr page. I don’t think I get enough of that deep sleep stuff which is when you’re actually getting proper rest. I dream a lot. Sometimes I can control it. If I don’t like my dream, I’m aware I’m asleep and usually I’ll fly off and change my dream.

I think I’ll start noting down my dreams. Last night’s was interesting. Well one of the dreams I had last night was. I had a few.

In this dream ended up with me racing against random people. Some people were in cars some were running, taking various routes to get to this place. I was running. For some reason we were racing around the streets where my mum lives, and where I grew up. Eventually the final destination turned out to be inside this building, and turned into a kind of assault course. I overtook Alan Rickman on that bit. Then it turned out the reason we were getting to the building was for an award ceremony. There was a stage where all the peopel sat who were up for getting these awards and the queen was a special guest, issuing the awards. My mum was there. There was performances going on and stuff and I was still waiting to get my award. I realised that everyone else was dressed smart and I was somehow duped into going topless. Which soon turned into a massive baggy vest, which still struggled to cover my assets. So I asked my mum to quickly sneak to my bag, which was on the stage where people were performing, and get my my hoodie. She went to get it. She turned into some random asian guy, who then turned into Stephen Fry. He couldn’t find my hoodie so he gave me a spare shirt, tie and jacket of his. Which was massive. But really comfy. I was still waiting for my award but my mum got fed up waiting and went home and left me there.

I reckon I can translate a lot of that dream into meaning, but it would be a lot of waffle and noone would be interested.

I have some odd dreams though.
